Pilates Powers for rehab and pushing away the Winter blues

Pilates Power for rehab

Pilates Power for rehab and to push back the Winter blues and look to the Spring

If you have been injured or if an old injury has flared up because you have been ill and off Pilates and your normal routine, it can feel natural to stay home and “protect” your shoulder or hip etc.. . Thing is, did you know that one of the reasons Joe Pilates and his Pilates method got so famous was because of rehab successes.

What can you safely do to stay fit while injured ?

There is so much you can safely do to stay fit even while injured through Pilates and of course over time to rehab that injury. We suggest talking to us when you have an injury and we can transform your group session into a half hour private session for no extra charge to give you our full attention and expertise. We are also happy to communicate with your physiotherapist or osteopath so we can assure them we know how to keep you safe and support their treatment plan through Pilates.

Becoming inactive because of injury won’t help us, no matter how tempting a good book and the sofa look this time of the year !

How to chase away the winter blues ?

Now the weather has got more wintery, dull and rainy, we also have a big list of genuine anxieties from winter viruses and economic forecasts to actual war and plague, Now is not the time for us to hibernate too long and stop doing the things that help us feel better and do life better.Ultimately everything positive we do in the world starts with caring for ourselves so we can reach out to others.

What helps prevention and recovery ?

We are noticing more injuries and illness in our community and want to remind you of some things within our power that can contribute to prevention and recovery. Firstly we need to keep connecting.

It’s so good for our well-being to keep connecting with our family, friends, colleagues and community. That’s one of the many reasons we love our work because we get to connect with you all as well as teach Pilates. Connecting even when wearing a mask to teach is a small price to pay for keeping the studio open and keeping us all safe. To be honest we forget that we are wearing masks now, much of the time. Social contact is such an important part of our overall health and self-care.

Movement helps !

Movement helps us to rehab and to feel better mentally. If you are only a little unwell or isolating and need to stay home, a short session of your strength and stretching Pilates routine can help maintain your physical condition. Help you not lose what you have built.

We can teach you online at home or help you out with video’s to work along with. Let us know what you need, we want to help. Even basic gentle fascia work like the foot rolling we do at the studio can help reduce tissue inflammation and stimulate the lymph system. With injuries, we can give you the right movements and calibrated support for an injured area to help you rehab faster and stronger too.
