What to expect from a Good Reformer Pilates Group Class

If your group Reformer Pilates Class is taught well:

·      You will feel calm and mindful, present and focussed, aware and aligned.

·      Your teacher will explain how to engage your core, strengthen your core and use your core during the class.

·      Your Teacher will set you up for each exercise with a clear idea how to position yourself on the Reformer safely and in correct alignment.

Pilates Reformer Resistance. The Springs and how to work with them.

·       They will tell you what springs you need and what kind of resistance suits the exercise and how to go a little easier or a little stronger. That’s in case you have an injury, an issue or a special need to strengthen an area.

·      Give you clear instruction about important areas of attention and focus like keeping your mid back flat on the Reformer for Hundreds, Hands in straps and Feet in straps. And how to do that safely, mindfully !

·       Manage to give some individual corrections as well as ‘universal’ corrections about shoulder placement, for example, one that most people need.

Tune in and leverage the Pilates Difference

·      Help you to tune into your breath and connect your breath to movement and the core.

·      Set rhythms that encourage deep even breaths.

·      Help you to tune into your body and not compete or compare.

How Pilates Reformer work is so powerful and transformative.

·      They will inspire you to understand the Pilates Reformer and how to work with the spring resistance. How it’s different from the gym and how to leverage the difference.

·      The details that make Pilates Reformer work so powerful and transformative will become clear. How to hold the handles or straps, how to hold the foot bar, how to place the feet. All these details maximise connection and activation of under used and targeted muscle chains.

·      5 spine shapes will get some mentions (and explainations) like Tall back, Round back, Extension, Rotation and Side flexion.

·     They will help you prioritise detailed muscle engagement of stabilising muscles, not  ‘feeling the burn’ so much, which only encourages the big strong muscles to take over and subsequent loss of form.

Smile and Enjoy your Pilates Challenges.

·      They will make you smile and enjoy your challenges on the Pilates Reformer.

·      They will notice you and your unique needs to help you maximise the effectiveness of your Pilates Reformer Class for you.

·      They will have checked in at the start of class and remember what you told them.
